Enrichment & Rituals

The Katmint Learning Initiative offers weekly enrichment to all students featuring Gardening, Yoga, Cooking, and Spanish Classes. The structure of our day-to-day routines and rituals are designed to ensure a child-centered environment with age appropriate curriculum for our learners. Students enrolled will:

  • Practice weekly Yoga with a certified in-house instructor to promote coordination, muscle strength, and mindfulness.
  • Learn through observation as they participate in cooking classes where they add and mix ingredients to create a variety of healthy dishes.
  • Listen to a variety of music, enabling their ability to identify different sounds and create music of their own with instruments and voice.
  • Investigate the world through interest-based STEAM instruction and exploration.
  • Benefit from weekly Spanish classes to bolster their language skills through song, literature, and real world connection.
  • Develop self-sufficient skills to be proud of such as creative techniques for potty training and hand washing to encourage early hygiene.
  • Be introduced to gardening through our partnership with Patchen Community Garden. Students engage in workshops where we grow our own herbs, fruits and vegetables and learn about the practice of reciprocity.
  • Collaborate with adults at home in monthly Long Term Projects that serve as a window for families to strengthen the school to home connection.
